What it does

LinkedIn has no formatting toolbar. Bold and italics only show up if they are written in special Unicode characters, and the "…see more" cut-off moves with the reader’s screen, so counting characters does not tell you where it falls.

Post formatter converts your formatting into the characters LinkedIn shows and measures every line at pixel width, so you see where your post is cut on each screen.

How it works

  1. Write your post with **bold**, _italic_ and "- " list lines.
  2. You get it back in the Unicode characters LinkedIn actually displays, ready to paste.
  3. Every line is measured at pixel width on a phone, a tablet and a desktop.
  4. You see the real "…see more" cut-off on each, and whether your hook lands above it.

Getting the most from it

  • Use bold sparingly, on one phrase that carries the point. Screen readers read styled characters awkwardly.
  • Check the phone cut-off first. That is where most of your readers are.
